Introduction

I took this course at UCI in fall 2006 to learn more about computational methods in physics, and to get more practice using Mathematica in this area. The instructor is Professor Taborek, UCI physics department. This course was not required for my MS in mechanical eng. But I thought it will be useful to take any way, and it was. It turned out to be lots of work, and I actually ended up spending more time on this course than on my other graduate course structural dynamics I was taking at the same time.

All the work was done using Mathematica. Below I include all the work I did for this course. I ended up with an A grade, so I was happy with that. This was my last quarter at UCI, I now completed my MS degree in Mechanical engineering.

An excellent textbook for any one wanting to use Mathematica for physics.

Instructor

Dr Peter Taborek

Professor, Physics & Astronomy
School of Physical Sciences

Prof Taborek is amazing. Best physics teacher I had, he knows lots of physics, but he also can explain complicated concepts in an easy way, a skill not common these days among instructors.

Lecture notes

This course did not need much notes taking as all the material was including in the textbook on-line. But these are few notes I took during lectures.
